Genesis 2:1-3
Thus the heavens and the earth were completed in all their vast array. By the seventh day God had finished the work He had been doing; so on the seventh day He rested from all His work. And God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on it He rested from all the work of creating He had done.
I'll admit it. My favorite day! Anyone who knows me knows I am not a Martha most of the time. I'm a Mary! I think rest is the greatest thing God ever created! Now, I do not think that God rested because He was tired. I would be tired if I did all that work in six days, but I'm not God. God doesn't get tired. And I'm so glad because sometimes I need Him in the middle of the night when I can't sleep for whatever reason. If I'm aware that I need Him it's probably because I'm stressing about something, but actually I always need Him, even when I'm asleep. I think He slept because He was settting an example for us, that we should work six days, and rest one day. Of course, I hope sleeping every night (or at least most nights) is okay, too. I am one who needs plenty of sleep. You don't want to see me on the days that I only had 4 hours or less of sleep! Anyway, I for one am grateful for rest!
